Year 5 - Writing Class

Our Writing Class helps Year 5 students improve their skills ahead of the second stage of the 11+ (SET) exams.

Each weekly session includes:

  • A short comprehension task

  • A writing task (descriptive, narrative or persuasive)

  • A timed response under exam-style conditions

  • Detailed teacher feedback the following week

  • No homework

The class is ideal for students who need support with planning, structure, sentence control and timing — not for those already excelling.

Details:

  • Fridays: 6.00 – 7.30 PM

  • Saturdays: 5.00 – 6.15 PM
(Choose one day only — choices are fixed once confirmed)

  • £20 per session, billed monthly in advance

  • In-person only, at our centre

  • Payment is online only – no cash accepted

  • Limited spaces – we’ve been oversubscribed in previous years

Who can apply:

  • Current Year 5 students already attending English at our centre

If your child would benefit from extra writing support, complete the application form below. You’ll receive an email if a place is offered. If not, you’ll be placed on the waiting list and contacted if a space opens up.

Year 5 Writing Class – Application Form (June Start)

Please note the following:

  • This class is only open to current Year 5 students who already attend our centre for English.

  • Students will attend on either Fridays (6.00–7.30 PM) or Saturdays (5.00–6.15 PM) — not both. You’ll be asked to select a preferred day.

  • Once places are confirmed, your child’s day cannot be changed.

  • Classes are £20 per session, billed monthly in advance based on the number of sessions that month.

  • Payment is online only. We’re unable to accept cash at the centre.

  • Due to high demand, places are limited. Submitting this form does not guarantee a space.

  • If you don’t hear from us after the application window closes, it means your child has been placed on the waiting list. We’ll be in touch if a space becomes available.

  • Once confirmed, places are non-refundable and non-transferable, even if a session is missed.

Please complete one application per student.
